Ireland comfortably defeated Scotland in the 13th/14th Play off match in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh to conclude their involvement in the competition.

Scotland found the Irish batsman in good touch, as Dohney compiled 45 runs at the top of the order before a stand of 107 in 14.1 overs for the 5th wicket between McClintock and Tucker put Ireland in command.

Mohammad Ghaffar produced a good spell of bowling to return with 3/49 from his ten overs while Ryan Brown, Ihtisham Malik, Haris Aslam and Finlay McCreath picked up a wicket a-piece.

Ireland had set their opponents a target of 235 from their 50 overs as McClintock and Tucker’s innings was ended on 69 and 59 respectively.

Scotland had put on 50 inside the first 15 overs to set a reasonable foundation for their reply.

Things started to unravel when Ben Wilkinson departed in the 27th over with the score on 87, as Scotland lost 6 wickets for only 53 runs.

Captain Neil Flack and Rory Johnston finished joint top-scorers in the Scotland innings with 19, but Ireland’s Harry Tector caused all sorts of problems with the ball, returning with figures of 4/28.

Scotland eventually finished 95 runs short of the total to finish the ICC U19 CWC in 14th place.
