Scotland to play three T20s in Dubai

27 Jan

It has today been confirmed that Scotland will contest three T20 fixtures in Dubai ahead of their ICC World T20 campaign in India

The three matches in February will be against a combined County XI, United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands, starting 3 February at the ICC Academy.

Scotland’s cricketers will play these matches as they make their way home from their tour of Hong Kong.

The game against a County XI will be an opportunity for the squad to gain match practice under lights, while the other two fixtures - which will be official T20Is - will be afternoon fixtures

Head Coach Grant Bradburn said, “As a squad we are eager to play as much cricket as possible leading into the ICC World T20 first round matches in India.

The chance to play three T20's in Dubai on our way home from Hong Kong gives us some much needed additional game time.

The players have prepared so well over the winter months and we have also tucked away some excellent preparation in Abu Dhabi, so the team is now ready to play. The three fixtures in Dubai will allow all players some game time to command selection in the playing 11.

These games also allow us as a squad to establish our first choice combinations aligned to each opposition and the conditions we might face. As a team we are looking to build upon the major strides Scotland took in 2015 in the T20 format.”
