Ireland won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket that had been used the previous day, which produced a low-scoring but thrilling encounter.

Dylan Budge caused havoc with his opening spell to put the visitors under pressure from the start of the match, as Ireland were reduced to 37/5 after the first 10 overs.

Ireland’s wicket-keeper Tector top-scored with 20, but Budge ensured that his innings was cut short as he was one of his five scalps, as Hamza Tahir, Tom Sole and Mark Watt chipped in with a wicket each.

The end result was that Ireland had managed to make their way to 86/9 after their allotted 20 overs.

Due to the tight nature of the series between these two sides, it meant that the final outcome was not a foregone conclusion.

And so it proved, as Chris Cash, Andrew Umeed and Azeem Dar all went cheaply at the start of the reply. William Edwards joined Budge at the crease as the two set about chasing the total.

Both batsmen picked the correct deliveries to score from as they got closer to the required total. Budge ensured man of the match honours with an unbeaten 34, which included two 6s and a two 4s.

Edwards gave good support hitting 25 from 33 balls to get Scotland over the line with 8 deliveries in the match remaining.

The result concludes an entertaining series with Scotland winning 2-1 - finishing the series level with Ireland and the Netherlands on 6 points each - but Ireland had already claimed victory in the competition due to the number of games won, after the matches between Scotland and the Netherlands had been washed out.
