County XI 184/6 (20 overs), Coetzer 77, Richardson 29, Pringle 21, MacLeod 2/12, Leask 2/26, Davey 1/35. Wheal 1/38, beat Scotland XI 169/6 (20 overs) Berrington 67*, MacLeod 41*, Cross 23, Mommsen 20, Sharif 2/30, Wells 2/24 by 15 runs.
A Scottish XI prepared for their two T20 Internationals against the Netherlands and UAE with a match against a County XI at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Wednesday.
The County XI featured Kyle Coetzer, Rob Taylor and Safyaan Sharif to ensure that the entire traveling squad spent some time on the park. It was also a mixture of Durham and Sussex players, which included Luke Wells, Harry Finch.
Scotland fielded first and were on the receiving of some hard hitting by Coetzer, who struck 77 from 57 deliveries, at the top of the order. He ended up being one of Matt Machan’s three catches off Josh Davey’s bowling.
Michael Richardson contributed 29 as Michael Leask and Calum MacLeod both collected two wickets, with the County XI finishing on 184/6.
Calum MacLeod started the Scottish reply with 41 supported by Matthew Cross (23) to get things going.
Richie Berrington launched an attack on the bowlers with an unbeaten 67*, although it couldn’t quite get his side over the line, finishing 15 runs short for the loss of six wickets.
At the conclusion of the game Berrington said, “It was good to spend some time in the middle and pleasing to get a few away against a quality bowling attack. Overall a useful run out and preparation for the two T20Is.”
