Scotland Squad to face Afghanistan
Cricket Scotland has today announced the Scotland squad ahead of their vital tour to the UAE, where they will take on Afghanistan in all three formats of the game.

The Scotland team, sponsored by The Parkmead Group, will play two T20 fixtures, two World Cricket League fixtures and a four-day Intercontinental Cup tie, meaning there will be plenty to play for. The tour will commence with three warm up fixtures against the Emirates Cricket Board Blues.
Scotland, currently placed second in the World Cricket League, will be looking to make strides towards claiming one of the two automatic spots to the ICC 2015 World Cup.
David Murphy, Matt Machan and Rob Taylor have all earned a place on the tour after impressing during their time on the recent uncapped tour of South Africa. Ian Wardlaw, the Yorkshire seam bowler who missed the SA tour due to his Champions League commitments, is also in line for a first cap during the tour.
Neil Carter, the former Warwickshire all-rounder, has also been selected and will add valuable experience to the squad especially in support of the young seam bowlers.
Following the announcement of the squad, Iain Kennedy, Scotland’s Chairman of Selectors commented, “‘This has been the most challenging and exciting selection of recent times as it is very rare that you would get such an influx of talented individuals to pick from. Hopefully our new players will gel quickly with our current squad and we get the positive results we are all hoping for against Afghanistan”.
A determined Scotland captain, Gordon Drummond added, “This is a massive few weeks of cricket for the team in terms of reaching the 2015 World Cup and another I-Cup final. The new look squad has a good balance to it and gives us a great deal of options.
The players have been training intensively since the start of the year and we are looking forward to getting back onto the pitch and challenging the talented Afghanistan team. It is important for us that we get off to a good start ahead of what is a huge year of cricket for Scotland.”
