Scotland U19s Record Convincing Win
Scotland U19 319 for 6 Umeed 138, McLean 55, Baum 28, Stirling 22no, English 20 beat Asoka Vidyalaya 146 all out Lakshan 51, Sabri 4 for 24, Gosain 3 for 36, Thomson 1 for 12, Main 1 for 16 by 173 runs
The Scotland U19s took part in the second match of their Sri Lankan tour earlier today against Asoka Vidyalaya.
After fielding first the previous day the U19s were given the opportunity to bat in Colombo and set about posting a formidable total following a fine century by Andrew Umeed.
Umeed, who was part of the Scotland U19 World Cup squad last year, was ably supported by Ross McLean who made 55 to add onto his 45 runs against the Sri Lankan's the previous day.
With a solid platform set by the top order the batsmen were able to come in to smash the bowling attack to all parts of the ground. Alex Baum, Michael English and Kyle Stirling ensured Scotland would finish their first innings on 319/6.
After a good first innings the Scottish bowlers ensured they would avenge their defeat by the Sri Lankan Board XI yesterday, as an excellent spell by Abdul Sabri claimed 4 wickets while Chaynak Gosain continued his impressive start to the tour with 3 wickets, while Gavin Main and Thomson claimed a wicket each.
Despite a half century by Lakshan the Asoka Vidyalayan batsmen would slide to 146 all out, giving the Scots their first win on the tour with a margin of 173 runs.
