MannofieldA busy summer of cricket continues at the end of this month for the Scotland team as they welcome Kenya to Mannofield for two T20s, two World Cricket League matches and an Intercontinental Cup fixture from June 30- July 10 2013.

June 30th marks the beginning of a 5 match series between the two sides that showcases all three formats of the game. Admission to all five of these fixtures will be free of charge

The matches will be held at the historic Mannofield cricket ground -  a venue which has hosted various Scotland matches since 1930.

The first of the two fixtures played are part of the World Cricket league Championship, a One Day International competition which leads up to the 2015 World Cup.

Scotland are currently third in the league table, and find themselves one place off an automatic qualification spot.  These two places are currently occupied by Ireland and the Netherlands, who play each other in July.

Scotland v KenyaScotland must win these two games to stay in with a chance of securing one of the two automatic qualifying spots.  Scotland’s final two matches in the WCL are against Ireland in September.

Failure to do this will not mean all is lost, as the ICC will be hosting a Cricket World Cup Qualifier event in New Zealand in February where another two slots will be up for grabs.

Roddy Smith commented, ‘The upcoming series with Kenya is a hugely important two week period as there are vital WCL and Intercontinental Cup points to play for as well as world ranking points in the two T20s. Mannofield is a great venue and one where Scotland has had some recent success, so we are delighted that we can return to Aberdeen again.’’

This represents a fantastic opportunity for supporters to take in international standard cricket free of charge, and to see the top players in the country ply their trade against a talented Kenyan side.”

For those unable to get to Aberdeen these matches will be streamed live by the ICC and will be free of charge to view.
