Scotland Women Will Head To Thailand For WT20Q

10 Nov

Scotland’s women will head to Thailand for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015 in October/November next year the ICC announced today.

Group A will include Bangladesh, Thailand, Scotland and PNG, while Group B will comprise Ireland, Netherlands, China and the Africa qualifier.

After successfully gaining promotion to ECB Division 3 in 2014, along with securing their first international victory over Holland at the European Division 1 Championships, the squad will be looking forward to experiencing foreign conditions.

Women’s Cricket Manager Kari Carswell said, “We’re really excited. Going somewhere different and playing some teams that we’ve not played before, or for a while at least.”

From our point of view we’ll go in and concentrate on what we’re good at -  we'll take the lessons that we learnt with us over the summer.

It would be fantastic if we could qualify and would undoubtedly grow the game women’s game in Scotland and give it a massive, massive boost. We’ve seen our number grow steadily year-on-year, and I think, having an involvement in a big tournament, such as this could really accelerate that growth.”
