ScotRail Curriculum for Excellence Cricket Programme launches
Cricket Scotland and Scotrail launched their new “ScotRail Curriculum for Excellence Cricket Programme” at Waverley Station, Edinburgh.
The aims of the programme are to enhance Cricket Scotland`s offering to primary schools and embed cricket within the school experience, while also delivering key rail safety messages and promoting ScotRail as an integral part of the community.
There was a strong showing from both the men’s and women’s national teams, and Cricket Scotland’s CEO Malcom Cannon and Chairman Tony Brian were also present at the event, along with the CricketFactory rig.
It was also a perfect opportunity to get people excited for the Scotland v Hong Kong matches on Thursday 8th and Saturday 10th of September. The players enjoyed a portion of the day handing out flyers and interacting directly with the public throughout the station.
Cricket Scotland’s Head of Participation Ian Sandbrook said, “What a great occasion to promote one of the biggest growing sports in Scotland in one out our busiest stations. For us, to push the sport in the country with ScotRail’s support is huge and allows us to reach a wider audience and produce our next crop of international stars.”
Phil Verster Managing Director of ScotRail Alliance said, “It’s the first time we’ve had an event like this at Waverley station, it’s great, innovative and new. I love the campaign and the rig and it’s a really good platform at which we can get our safety messages to children.”
