Scotswatch | Coetzer takes Northants to Finals Day

09 Aug

Kyle CoetzerWith the Scotland contracted players busy in Pro Series action, the other members of the squad have been performing for their counties.

Scotland Kyle Coetzer has continued his brilliant form this season by helping Northants reach Finals Day of the Friends t20 competition after striking 6 boundaries and scoring 44 runs against his former Durham team-mates at the County Ground on 6 August.

A few days earlier ‘Costa’ had stroked a century for the Steelbacks in the their LV=County Championship match against Glamorgan, finishing with 122, as his team drew the four day fixture at the County Ground.

In the County Second Eleven Trophy (40 over/one day competition) three counties feature a number of Scots; at Nottinghamshire (Matthew Cross), Glamorgan (Ruaidhri Smith) and Warwickshire (Freddie Coleman).

There was a top of the table clash between Notts and Lancashire this week and it was a fantastic match which went down to the wire.

Matthew CrossMatthew Cross top scored for Nottinghamshire 2nd XI as Notts came away victors of the top of the table clash in the County 2nd XI Trophy.

Crossy, who opens the batting and keeps wicket for Notts, stroked 48 (including 6x4) as Notts chased down 152 on a difficult pitch to beat second place Lancashire by just one wicket.

Notts have retained their top spot in the 10 team County championship, having won 6 of their 8 fixtures. A win in their final match away at Yorkshire would see them crowned 2013 champions.
