Scotswatch | Cross v Sadler
Scottish starlets Matthew Cross and Paddy Sadler came up against each other on the 1st of May in a high-profile 50 over University match which saw Loughborough facing Cambridge.
Cross opening the batting for Loughborough, and Sadler opening the bowling for Cambridge, tested their skills against each other straight from the off.
Cross, building on some promising early-season form and pushing for a place in the Saltires YB40 squad, top scored for the University as he stroked an impressive 80 from as many balls.
However it was not so one sided, as Sadler, the pick of the Cambridge bowlers, ripped through the middle-order to finish with 4 wickets for the loss of only 28 runs.
Loughborough eventually came out on top on this occasion by 113 runs, but it was the individual performances of both Cross and Sadler that were the real highlights.
In the County Championship Division 2, both Kyle Coetzer and David Murphy are in action for Northants in their Liverpool Victoria Championship game against Kent.
Fielding first, Murphy managed 2 catches, as they restricted Kent to 271.
Kyle Coetzer began play on the second day of the match at the crease, looking to kick-start his season with a meaningful score, however he was first out for 6 in Northants’ reply.
