Scottish Cup Final 2014
This weekend will see two major matches taking place at Stirling Cricket Club on Sunday (24 August) with the Scottish Cup Final and the Cricket Scotland Trophy Final.
The Scottish Cup Final looks to be a mouth-watering encounter with current holders and six time winners, Mazars Grange CC, go head-to-head with PSL Clydesdale in the 50 over final.
Both of these well-established sides have Scottish internationals in their line-up. Grange have the newly capped George Munsey, while Clydesdale have Richie Berrington and Majid Haq in their ranks.
As well as current internationalists both teams are packed with personnel who have extensive experience at representative level.
Grange’s Cup form has been excellent with outstanding victories over RH Corstorphine, Forfarshire and East Kilbride to propel them to the final where they eagerly await to lock horns with Clydesdale.
The national trophy has not featured in the men from Titwood cabinet for more than a quarter of a century, with the last win coming in 1988 at Forfarshire against Aberdeen Grammar FP. They have lifted the trophy on five occasions and defeated close rivals, Ferguslie, to make it to Stirling.
The Cricket Scotland Challenge cup will also be taking place between Kilmarnock and Irvine on the upper pitch at Stirling and should also be an entertaining encounter.
It’s all set to be a showcase of Scottish domestic cricket at its very best.
The day will also be part of the STV Cricket-a-thon which Cricket Scotland have supported this year to raise money for the STV Appeal.
Both matches will start at 12pm.
