Secondary Schools Cup Finals Day
A beautiful warm and sunny day met the four finalists at Doo’cot Park (Perth) on Tuesday 17th June.
Twenty schools took part in the event this year with the finalists coming from George Watson’s College, The Glasgow Academy, Aberdeen Grammar and Glenalmond College.
The draw for the semi-finals saw the defending champions Glenalmond College take on Aberdeen Grammar, with Glenalmond coming out winners scoring 164 for 5 and then bowling Aberdeen Grammar out for 54.
The other semi-final saw George Watson’s College play The Glasgow Academy. George Watson’s restricted The Glasgow Academy to 90 for 2 after their allotted twenty overs. George Watson’s knocked off the runs inside thirteen overs for the loss of two wickets, setting up a final with Glenalmond College.
In the third verses fourth play-off game saw Glasgow Academy batting first and scored 120 for seven in their twenty overs. In reply Aberdeen Grammar made 53 for seven.
In the final Glenalmond College amassed 123 in their twenty overs, which proved to be a competitive total. In reply George Watson’s lost wickets at regular intervals before finally getting over the line in dramatic fashion, with three wickets in hand and an over to spare.
