Sport Nation BBC Cricket Special
Scottish cricket will be showcased on ‘Sport Nation’ in a half an hour feature on the game in this country at 8pm on Friday 14th June on BBC2 Scotland.
The programme will examine the history of cricket in Scotland, as David Currie investigates the current state of Scottish cricket and looks at what the future might hold for the nation's international side.
The 30 minute special has been shot in various locations around the country as the crew visited a number of grounds in the north, east and west of Scotland.
There will be interviews with Scotland’s leading One Day International wicket taker Majid Haq and former international bowler John Blain.
Also featured in the programme is Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer who gives an insight behind the scenes at Northants County Cricket Club and looks at ‘a day in a life of a county cricketer’, and the various pressures that go with it.
Cricket Scotland’s Chief Executive Roddy said, “We are delighted that BBC Scotland has put together this excellent Sport Nation programme on Scottish cricket.
It gives a great opportunity to showcase all the excellent work being done around the country to develop the game, as well broadening the awareness of cricket to the Scottish public.
With over 50,000 participants, 10,000 committed club cricketers and a fully professional national side ranked 14th in the world the programme will give a great opportunity for the viewers to appreciate our sport, the issues it faces and the work being done to move the sport forward.”
The programme will be also be available on the BBC I-player.
