STK CricketFollowing the success of the inaugural STK Cricket Overseas Spring Coaching Camp last year at the La Manga Club in Murcia, Spain STK Cricket are delighted to announce that they will be running a second camp between Saturday 5th and Friday 11th April 2014.

The camp is open to any young cricketers keen on improving their game whilst experiencing and enjoying a different culture and integrating with a group of 24 players from all over Scotland aged between 11 and 16. The camp aims to challenge all the participants both on and off the field in the hope that they return from the experience both better cricketers and more rounded individuals. 

Whilst based at La Manga the group will have access to the excellent practice and playing facilities which include four artificial practice nets, a bowling machine, two full size cricket ovals with artificial pitches throughout the course of the week. The camp will culminate with two games on the final day against a Spanish Academy XI and a Pro Coach Academy XI. Off the field the group will make use of the various swimming pools, leisure facilities and meeting rooms that are available at the complex. 

The management team for the camp will be lead by current Reivers, Scotland Under 17 and Heriot’s CC coach Steven Knox and he will be assisted by a management team of five which will include current Caledonian Highlanders coach Ian Brown. The participants signed up so far range from 11 year old club cricketers through to current Scotland Under 15 internationalists. The majority of this year’s participants hail from Edinburgh but there also players from Glasgow,West Lothian, Perthshire, Fife, Clackmannanshire and Dundee. 

Accommodation for the camp comes in the form of five x 4* twin 3-bedroom apartments where the participants are encouraged to mix with participants from different areas of Scotland whilst rooming with someone they know. The camp is run on a self-catering basis with two of the management team preparing fresh daily packed lunches for the 30 strong group. Evening meals are prepared in each of the apartments by one of the management team with one night allocated for a ‘Masterchef’ style competition where the participants cook for the management team. 

The price of the camp is £725 and this includes the following: 

- Return flights with Jet2.com from Edinburgh to Alicante

- 6 nights accommodation in the 4* Las Lomas Apartments

- Internal transport in Spain in four x 9 seater Mercedes Vito people carriers

- All food & drink whilst in Spain

- Travel Insurance

- All coaching
