Following a successful re-launch in Glasgow, this winter’s block of Tapeball has now been completed. In total, over 40 different people participated in the Saturday evening matches which took place in the warmth of the Hutchesons’ Grammar School Sports Hall.
Of those who participated, less than ten were existing members of cricket clubs – including two who travelled through from Edinburgh to take part.
The project was supported by the Sports Council for Glasgow, through their Club Grant Scheme - and by Cricket Scotland. One of the main challenges of the re-launch was to encourage those participating to discover a way of making the project sustainable for future years – without having to rely on support funding. The ultimate success of the 2015 re-launch will, therefore, not be conclusively known until 2016. However, it is certain that those who took part this winter enjoyed their experience – and the opportunity to play a non-traditional format of the sport during the cold winter months.
