U15s Caley v Eastern Knights

27 Jun

Strathmore CC in Forfar was the venue for the latest U15 Inter Regional fixture. East won the toss and decided to bat and got off to a brisk start.

Aidan Brown then bowled Angus Hinton before Adam Brewer took a diving catch to remove Finlay McCreath. Will Hardie then took another quick wicket and East were 66 for 3.

Some good stands and regular wickets being taken meant neither side was ever really ahead and East finished on 230 for 8 off their 50 overs. Star batsman of the day was Jamie Crawley who fell just short of a deserved century with 96.

Caley got off to a very good start before Ben Pearson was removed with the score on 80. Rory Johnston compiled an excellent 51, but when he and another quick wicket fell Caley were left on 117 for 4 off 30 overs.

Some excellent hitting by Aaron Grayson and Kaleem Barreto kept the game very much alive, but both were then run out to leave the Caley tail with a lot of work to do. They eventually finshed 15 runs of shy on 215 for 8. Pick of the bowlers was Andrew Appleton with 3 for 33 from his 10 overs.

MVP
3 - J Crawley
2 - R Johnston
1 - A Appleton
