U15s defeated by Northumberland

Royal London ECB under 15 County Cup

Northumberland  v Scotland at Alnmouth & Lesbury  CC on Thursday 14th  July 2016

Scotland turned in an improved performance here in the lovely picturesque ground at Alnmouth but again came up short following a frenetic run chase.

Northumberland, on winning the toss elected to bat on a wearing strip. They set off at a sedate pace and watchfully compiled a decent total. Wilson looked good for 43 from 85 balls but impetus was given by Donrathy (39) & Gardiner (38) who, with wickets in hand, put Bat to ball to post a challenging 215. Pick of the visitors bowling attack were Bhandari, Blumski, Sajjad & Edwards who gave little away.

Scotland reply was innings of huge contrasts. Tom Bradburn & Uzzair Shah batted watchfully to compile an opening stand of 112. Unfortunately they took a large part of their allocated overs to get there leaving the middle order needing to take risks to reduce the asking rate. Durness Mackay-Champion hit a quick 28 from 20 balls and Angus Guy  chipped the ball pleasantly into gaps at a run a ball but with the asking rate above 7 an over the innings floundered in a riot of run outs to leave the Scots all out 20 runs adrift.
