U15s start with emphatic win over Guernsey
Scotland opened up their ICC Europe U15 Championship campaign with a convincing win over Guernsey at Rugby School on Monday.
After winnings the toss Scotland captain Callum Garden opted to bat first. Jamie Crawley helped to get the scoreboard ticking with 27 at the top of the order.
Although wickets kept falling at regular intervals, an impressive innings from Tom Diamond ensured Scotland would push to a decent total, hitting 46 from 51 deliveries, which included a four and three sixes.
Jack Bradburn also contributed 19 with 16 of his runs coming in the form of boundaries. However, he fell to the bowling of Jack Birch who then took figures of 4/21 to clean up the tail, as the innings stuttered and Scotland were bowled out for 160 in the 34th over.
Four wickets apiece for Robbie McCallum (4/18) and Aliyan Quershi (4/12) helped get the young Scots off to a flying start as they made light work of the Guernsey batting line-up to make sure the result was never in doubt.
Calum Clarkson chipped in with a wicket, while Louis Ware secured a run out as no one in the Guernsey batsmen managed to reach double figures.
Scotland completed a decent display, bowling out the opposition for just 58 in 23.4 overs, giving Scotland the win by 102 runs. Their next test will be against Jersey on ground 1 at 10:30am today (4 August).
