U17 girls squad head to Ireland

07 Aug

The U17 girls squad has been announced for their trip to Dublin where they are play Ireland U17 girls in a set of T20 and 40 over fixtures.

The season has been a busy one for the U17s competing in both the ECB U17 45 over and 20 over completions, not to mention a number of girls playing the Regional Series as well as playing lots of club and school cricket.

Gordon Allan Head Coach of the U17s is looking forward to the challenge ahead, “It’s been a good season so far and the girls are looking forward to going to Dublin.  We are playing quite a lot of cricket in a short space of time, but it’s something we are used to after playing in the ECB competitions”.

Kari Carswell, Women’s Cricket Manager realises the importance of such trips, “This is the second year in a row that we are playing a series against the Ireland U17s and if last year was anything to go by it will be an exciting series.

It’s vital for our player’s development to experience being involved in these games and it gives them a taste of what playing in future European tournaments will be like. There is no doubt that we have some very talented cricketers in this group and we are looking forward to seeing how they get on against their Irish counterparts.  Touring is a great part of cricket and you make lifelong friends through the game and traveling to different countries.  I’m sure both squads will enjoy the matches”.
