Wildcats double up on T20 wins

23 Jul

The Wildcats can be satisfied after two victories in their opening games of the ECB T20 competition, defeating both Leicestershire and Derbyshire on the same day.

Batting first against Leicestershire the Wildcats made 123/8, with Liz Priddle (37*) and Rachel Scholes (35) the main contributors.

Leicestershire eventually fell 13 runs short of the total after finishing their innings on 111/4.  Kathryn White was the pick of the bowlers picking up 1/14 in her 4 overs, this game also marked 100 Scotland games for Kathryn, as she became the first Scottish women to reach this milestone.

Abbi Aitken continued her streak of winning the toss in the 2nd T20 of the game v Derbyshire and this time opted to bowl first.  Excellent fielding and bowling restricted Derbyshire to 106/8 from 20 overs, as Kirstie Gordon picked up a miserly 2/12 in her 4 overs.

Fi Urquhart 40, Rachel Scholes 23, Ollie Rae 22* and Kari Anderson 14* ensured the Wildcats recorded an 8 wicket victory with 32 balls to spare.

Coach Kari Anderson said after the two victories: "We can be pleased with how we've played today - that is probably the best we have fielded and bowled all season so that's really pleasing. The girls are in confident mood and everyone is contributing to the victories, so I'll be looking for more of the same on Wednesday".

The Wildcats will now take on the same opposition today at Denby CC.
