Wildcats finish T20 Campaign with two wins
The Wildcats arrived home with 2 more victories. Wins over Gloucestershire and Northants in round 2 of the NatWest T20 and secured the Wildcats 4th place in Division 3.
Batting first against Gloucestershire the Wildcats posted 132-5 in their 20 overs with Annette Drummond (33), Liz Priddle (26) and Kathryn White (28*) the main run scorers. The Wildcats had to wait until the 9th over before they got the breakthrough but once Lois Wilkinson was introduced wickets started to fall and the run out slow. Lois finishing with figures of 4-15 of her 4 overs, Gloucestershire finishing their innings on 85-5.
After winning the toss again Abbi Aitken decided to bowl first in the 2nd game of the day v Northamptonshire. Northants reached 116/4 in their 20 overs with Wilkinson again picking up 2-20 and Aitken 1-18. Fiona Urquhart and Rachel Scholes set about chasing down the target and the both clearly wanted an early finish! The score had raced to 31 after 3 overs with Urquhart and Scholes looking to take advantage of the initial 6 over powerplay. Urquhart was out for a brisk 38. Scholes wasn’t letting up and finished on 61* to see the Wildcats to victory by 8 wickets with 16 balls to spare.
After the game skipper Abbi Aitken was delighted with 2 more wins “ the girls put in some strong performances. We are doing some things really well at the moment and it’s great to see the girls backing themselves and having the confidence to try different things”.
