Wildcats Squad For 2014 Opener

01 May

From Scotland Women's Cricket Association

The Wildcats get their season underway with a double header against Northamptonshire (4th May ) and Hampshire (5th May).

The squad were disappointed that last weekend’s friendly was cancelled due a waterlogged pitch, but the team are feeling well prepared and are looking forward to the matches.  The Wildcats will be looking to improve on last year’s finish in the league,  where they finished 3rd after winning 5 games and losing 3.

The squad has trained hard over winter and are now eager to put new skills to the test in a match situation.  Kari Carswell is looking forward to the challenge ahead

“2014 is a busy season and I know the girls are looking forward to all the cricket this year.  Winter training has gone well, we have introduced a couple of new things so hopefully we are fully prepared for the season ahead.  This time of year is always a busy one for the players, it’s right in the middle of the exam timetable for the girls at school and university so I’m looking forward to the end of the month! We are in a position now where no matter what team we put out we are confident of putting in a winning performance. We will be missing a few; Rachel Scholes who has had a shoulder operation and Fi Urquhart who is still catching the sun in Australia until later this month and those sitting crucial exams, but the girls in the squad will be ready, no excuses.  We have a number of girls who have played over 50 times now and have the experience of playing at this level”.
