Katie McGill

Bio

Katie, aka McGill, was born in Brighton and lived in the South Downs until she was 11. Not from a cricketing family, Katie got her first taste of cricket through Brighton College. When she moved up to Surrey, cricket took a back seat until she was 16 when she joined the newly forming Lady Llama team at Reigate Priory CC, a group she remains close to now.

McGill cricket really accelerated when she went to university, bringing her up to Edinburgh.  Playing for the university and Carlton CC brought about great opportunities and McGill debuted for the Wildcats against Worcestershire in summer of 2015. Since then Katie has featured in the squad for the 2015 World T20 and 2017 World Cup Qualifiers, sandwiching a season in New Zealand in between where she opened the bowling for the Northern Spirit domestic team. McGill was one of Scotland’s opening bowlers at the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier and showed she can bowl with great control and consistency with either the new or old ball.

Having graduated with a Masters in Engineering, Katie is staying in Edinburgh to embark on a PhD researching head-impacts in sport whilst training to continue her Scottish Cricket career.
