Success for Grange and Carlton in the Youth Cups

Perth Doo’cot hosted the U16’s Scottish Cup Finals Day on Sunday (15/8) rounding off the season for the youth cups, with Carlton securing the silverware after a competitive final versus Gordonians.

In the semi-finals held earlier in the day, Gordonians prevailed versus Livingston winning by 8 wickets in reaching their target of 61 in the 10th over. In the other semi-final, Carlton scored an impressive 156 to overcome Clydesdale who finished just short in their chase finishing on 151 .

Carlton batted first in the final and set a challenging target of 184 with S Smith retiring on 50. In reply, having lost some early wickets, Gordonians struggled with the chase finishing on 60.

Earlier in the month, Inverleith hosted the U14 finals day with Grange, Livingston, Aberdeenshire and Clydesdale battling for the silverware. In the first semi-final, Grange scored a very impressive 203/1 and despite a valiant attempt from Livingston in the reply, Grange restricted them to 82/8.

In the 2nd semi-final, Clydesdale batted to the 20th over reaching 100 all out and proved to be too strong in the field with Aberdeenshire finishing on 76/4.

In the final, Grange continued their aggressive batting style reaching 156/3 and after some excellent fielding restricted Clydesdale to 131/8.

Congratulations to both Carlton and Grange on their success and to all the team that competed in this years tournaments during what has been an incredibly challenging season in arranging fixtures and player availability.
