This weekend sees the start of the second Wee Bash season with ten female teams competing in the social soft ball cricket tournament at Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow.
The Wee Bash was launched in 2017 as the new brand for Cricket Scotland’s Female Indoor Cricket Tournaments. Monthly tournaments are played alternately in Glasgow and Edinburgh culminating in a Finals Day at the Emirates in Glasgow on Sunday 7th April.
The short 5-over format means games are fast and exciting to play in. The “windball” allows for players of all abilities to mix, number of mother-daughter combinations have starred The Wee Bash in the past!
Nic Wison, Cricket Scotland’s Female Participation Manager said: “It’s fantastic to see so many teams from across Scotland enjoying The Wee Bash. It is very much a social event, a way to keep in touch outside the traditional summer cricket season. The format also allows new players to experience cricket matches in a relaxed and safe environment.”
Alongside experienced teams like the 2017 winners Dundee & Angus and Galloway CC with two teams, three brand new teams will debut at the first Wee Bash this Sunday: West of Scotland CC, Callander CC/McLaren HS and East Renfrewshire CC.
