Watt set to captain “A’ squad to Durham
Mark Watt will captain Scotland 'A' against Durham 2XI

Scotland ‘A’ will continue their season on Monday as they travel to the Emirates Riverside where they will face Durham 2XI in a three day encounter.

Mark Watt has been given the opportunity to lead the team which contains eight players from the trip down to Bath and Bristol last weekend.

With players pushing for selection ahead of Scotland’s internationals in June it will be a few important days for the players. Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer joins the coaching staff for the fixture alongside Grant Bradburn and Toby Bailey.

Michael Jones is expected to line up for Durham after his impressive 164 for their second string earlier this week.

Ahead of the game Grant Bradburn said, “The ‘A’ Team will face a different challenge when taking on Durham 2XI in a three day game. This traditional fixture against Durham is always a strong contest and will again provide our players with a great opportunity to make a statement for higher honours early in the season.

The team and individual performances in Bath last week were very impressive considering it was the first time outdoors this season for the majority of the ‘A’ Team.

While the National team don’t play any multi day cricket in 2018, we place huge value on these three day games, which challenge our players to develop skills and apply them in different situations of the game in every format.”

Scotland ‘A’ Squad: Mark Watt (captain), George Munsey, Owais Shah, Chris Greaves, Michael Leask, Dylan Budge, Craig Wallace, Riyaad Henry, Hamza Tahir, Adrian Neill, Christian Robertson, Elliot Ruthven
