Indoor Report – Week 8

So there was one place in finals night to be decided last Friday in the Cricket Media Super 6’s. It was between Freuchie and Edinburgh University. Grange successfully raised a team and it was decided that the normal format would ensue with points against the opposition counting towards the final group standings.

Freuchie played the University in the first match of the evening, with the winner of the match knowing they would have one foot in a Semi final berth. Freuchie batted first and scored a solid total of 149/4 from their 10 overs with S Galloway top scoring for the Fife side. The University will no doubt be disappointed with their reply, only managing to score 73 all out in the 6th over - only R Routray made a reasonable score.

So, the Fifers knew they only required 3 points from their game against Grange to go through. Grange batted first and completed their innings on 74 all out with Edwards and Smith scoring the runs; therefore, with the capture of the Grange wickets Freuchie knew they had made it through. Freuchie won the game in the 9th over with R Birrell scoring 25.

The last game of the evening was between the University and Grange with only pride at stake. The University again posted a what they would certainly consider a below par score of 75 all out.  Hairs and Edwards knocked off the runs within 6 overs as the Grange won the game without losing a wicket.
