Wildcats take on Worcestershire

This weekend the Scottish Wildcats travel to Worcestershire for the final two games of the 2011 LV= Women’s County Championship Division 3 campaign.

It’s a case of déjà vu for the Scottish Wildcats who secured division 3 status last year with back to back wins against Hampshire.  Sitting at the bottom of the table with Worcestershire, the Wildcats will hope history repeats itself to help them avoid relegation.

Without the top five batters for this trip, the Wildcats bring back Fiona Campbell, Catherine Smaill, Lorna Jack and youngsters Rebecca Waldie and Briony Gillin who have impressed at under-17 level.

Despite an average age of only 20 years old, stand-in coach Kathryn White is optimistic the side will be playing Division 3 cricket next year.

“The team are looking to end the season on a high note.  We’ve progressed as a team from last year and we’ve played in games were both teams got into positions to win but we’ve not managed to get across the line.  However, we have a young squad who are more than capable of winning.”

The Wildcats team to play Worcestershire:

Abbi Aitken (Captain, Montrose), Lorna Jack (Wicketkeeper, Ferguslie), Kathryn Bryce (Watsonian),Fiona Campbell (Ellon Gordon), Priyanaz Chatterji (Forfarshire), Briony Gillin (Largo), Sam Haggo (Prestwick), Diane Pedgrift (Arbroath), Catherine Smaill (University Wales Institute Cardiff), Rebecca Waldie (St. Boswells), Kathryn White (St. Boswells)
