Wildcat’s ‘A’ squad will start their 2018 campaign this weekend as they travel Durham and Northumberland in a double header on 6th and 7th May 2018.

The first match against Durham will be held at the picturesque ground of Philadelphia CC in Houghton Le Spring before moving on to Stockfield CC to take on Northumberland for the match on Monday.

The Wildcat’s ‘A’ squad compete in the ECB Division 3 One Day Cup with the aim of giving opportunities to players who are on the edge of the senior squad to impress and force their way into the selectors minds.  There is a lot to play for this summer with the Wildcats pushing for T20 World Cup Qualification in the Netherlands in early July.

All players in the squad featured in the newly revamped senior women’s regional game last week. Lorna Jack will captain the “A’ side this week after leading the Stormers to victory last week. The full Wildcats squad are competing Division 2 in the ECB T20 competition which starts in June.

Head coach of Wildcats ‘A’ Steven Knox said “I’m really looking forward to the start of what is a huge season for Scottish female cricket. The A team will be striving hard to be promoted to Division Two of the ECB 50 over county competition so it’s important we start well this weekend. Alongside this the Wildcats will try to qualify for the T20 World Cup and gain promotion to Division One of the ECB county competition.” Iain Stewart will be assistant coach in his first outing with the squad.
