The East League Management Group (ELMG) have confirmed that the Eastern Premier League fixtures scheduled for Saturday April 27 will be moved to Saturday August 31.
This delay to the season start will hopefully give ground staff the chance to prepare a pitch for the opening weekend, which will now be Saturday May 4.
This decision was taken in light of the exceptionally prolonged spell of wet weather, recognising that ground staff need longer to prepare their square in readiness for a new season.
This decision is by exception, and should not be taken as a precedent for any other week where fixtures may be lost due to inclement weather.
