Carlton’s under13 team lifted the ECB Vitality U13’s Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon by defeating Clydesdale to conclude finals day at McKane Park, hosted by Dunfermline and Carnegie CC.

The home club, who had won through from the Midlands section had lost their semi-final to Clydesdale before the North winners Gordonians lost to Carlton to set up an East/West Final.

Batting fist in the final Clydesdale totalled fifty all out – top scorer Hamsa Shahid made fourteen before being run out by a sharp piece of fielding which epitomised Carlton’s display in the field. Left arm spinner Harry Charman took 4 for 14 whilst Robbie Murray finished off the Clydesdale innings with 2 for 9.

Carlton chased down their target with a positive batting display and lost only two wickets in doing so inside eight overs with Ollie Stones making 24 not out and Lewis King 22.

Congratulations to Carlton who now move on to the next stage of the competition which involves playing the regional winners from Cumbria or Durham on Sunday 11th July at Carlton.

Thanks to all the players who play over the day, to the umpires Eddie Kennedy and Douglas Smith who officiated in all three games, to the parents  and coaches for their support on the day and to Dunfermline & Carnegie CC for hosting and producing a good wicket and fast outfield that help the games.
